Social and Economic Impacts of the New York Auto Show

The 2012 New York International Auto Show is held April 6-15th, 2012, and generates nearly $250 million in economic impact for New York City. Chris Sams, a spokeman for the New York International Auto Show media relations team said that the auto show opened in 1900 and has been growing year after year until today. He also said that it is the most attended auto show in the United States, with more than 1 million visitors a year.

The show employs 1,800 workers at one time during the busiest part of the show, and there will be more than 400 tractor-trailer loads of equipment and lighting. The event is held at Jacob Javits convention center where there is 3 million pounds of rigging equipment and 835,000 sq ft of carpeting. During the 10 day period of the New York International Auto Show, there will be approximately 30,000 beverages, 10,000 pretzels, 4,000 pizzas, and 15,000 hot dogs consumed!!
